Are electric toothbrushes better than manual ones?

Most dentists think so, if you use them the right way. Electric toothbrushes prevent you from brushing too hard which can wear away the enamel- the outer protective layer of the tooth. Most electric toothbrushes have a buit-in timer for 2 minutes which is recommended. Some electric toothbrushes go as fast as 40,000 strokes per second and you can't do that manually.

If you prefer to stick to a manual toothbrush just make sure it's labeled SOFT or EXTRA SOFT.
